Dr. Kanji Nakatsu, President of the Canadian Pharmacology Society (CPS) was in Winnipeg recently to present Dr. Daniel Sitar with the CPS Senior Scientist Award.
This Award in Pharmacology is designed to stimulate and to recognize research in the field of Pharmacology and Toxicology in Canada. It is awarded annually for significant contributions to the advancement and extension of knowledge in the field. The selection of this very competitive award is based on originality and uniqueness of significant pharmacological knowledge or concepts, and/or to the development of new therapeutic agents for the treatment of disease.
As part of this award, Dr. Sitar has already presented his scientific findings at the annual scientific meeting of the society in Banff this last March. This recognition of Dan’s achievements not only speaks strongly for the individual but greatly enhances the profile of our Department, Faculty and University.
Dr. Kanji Nakatsu, President of the CPS at the time of the award, was in Winnipeg to present Dr. Sitar with a plaque. Dr. Kanji Nakatsu is currently the Associate Dean Academic, Faculty of Health Sciences, at Queen’s University.
