2009 Bison Football Training Camp begins with 86 players
Posted Tuesday, August 18, 2009 3:14 PM

There will be 86 players invited to the 2009 Manitoba Bison football team training camp. The Bisons camp will begin their first on-field practice on Friday, August 21 at the practice field (U of Manitoba campus) at 4:30 p.m. Team player testing will be on Thursday, August 20 from 8:30-noon at Room 125 Frank Kennedy Centre.

The first two-a-day session occurs on Saturday, August 21 and then team training camp will run until a scrimmage scheduled for Friday, August 28. The Herd will then start to prepare for the first regular season contest during the week of August 31-September 2.

For the 2009 season, there will be nine of 12 starters on the defense and six of the 12 starters on offence returning to the Bison squad. Two years removed from winning their third Vanier Cup Championship in team history, the Manitoba Bisons football team seeks to rebound from missing the playoffs for only the third time in the last decade.

The Bisons will not play a pre-season football game this season. The squad will begin the 2009 regular season on the road against the Regina Rams on Friday, September 4 at 8 p.m. Central Time. Manitoba’s first home game is the Homecoming Game versus the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds on Saturday, September 19 at 2 p.m. CT.
