The Bisons have had players selected in 11 of the last 13 CFL Drafts: 2000 (2), 2001 (2), 2002 (7), 2003 (3), 2005 (3), 2006 (1), 2007 (2), 2008 (5), 2009 (1), 2010 (1) and 2012 (1).

The Toronto Argonauts selected Quincy Hurst with the 28th overall pick in the 4th round. This is the highest Bison selection of a wide receiver in the CFL Canadian Draft since Terry Firr was selected by the Montreal Alouettes at the exact same overall pick in 2008.

Hurst, 23, did not play with Manitoba last season but dressed and played in all eight conference regular season games in 2010 for the Bisons. He was second on the team with 295 receiving yards with 18 receptions and two receiving touchdowns. In addition, the 5’9, 170 lbs. multi-purpose player was first on team (third in Canada West) with 378 punt return yards (9.4 avg.) along with a 100 yard TD punt return. The Coquitlam, BC native also recorded 528 kick return yards (20.3 avg.), good for fifth in Canada West in 2010. He was part of the 2012 National Invitational Combine earlier this year.

Hurst enthused after being selected, “It is hard to comprehend that I just got drafted. I am overjoyed and have waited over ten years for this moment. I knew there was some interest from Toronto and other teams and was very happy to be selected by the Argonauts.”

This is the first time that the Toronto Argonauts have drafted a Manitoba Bisons players since the 2005 draft when offensive lineman Tye Smith was selected 35th overall (4th round).
