Drs. Jennifer Mactavish, and Zana Lutfiyya are members of the Vulnerable Persons Act Examination Committee that was selected to receive a Community Living - Manitoba Award for their accomplishments in influencing the lives of persons living with intellectual disability.
Each year, Community Living - Manitoba, an organization dedicated to the full inclusion in the community of persons of all ages who live with an intellectual disability, present the President's Award in the categories of Inclusive Education, Leadership, Justice and Human Rights, and Early Childhood. These awards recognize outstanding individual and organizational accomplishments in endeavours influencing the lives of persons living with an intellectual disability in Manitoba.
Dr. Jennifer Mactavish (Kinesiology and Recreation Management) and Dr. Zana Lutfiyya (Education) are Research Affiliates of the HLHP Research Institute and members of the Vulnerable Persons Act Examination Committee (with Karen Schwartz, and Mary Ann Updike, Ph.D. students in Education), which was selected to receive this year's award. Congratulations to Dr. Mactavish, Dr. Lutfiyya and colleagues for their outstanding contribution, and for this recognition of their important and on-going work.
