Professor Don McCarthy’s lecture is a fascinating account of the history, as far as we know it, of the Great Library of Alexandria, and some of the famous thinkers who studied and worked there including Hypatia the famous woman philosopher and mathematician.
The Memorial Lectures are presented each October to commemorate the life and work of Elizabeth Dafoe, University Librarian at University of Manitoba from 1936 until her death in 1960.
