Rural communities are experiencing extreme adversity.   Communities such as Clearwater, a 100-person community located in southwestern Manitoba, are in the process of reinventing themselves.  Clearwater, along with the Harvest Moon Society, has developed the closed primary school as a learning center and a site for small business, and has turned a local farm into a location for environmental education.

The course takes place in Clearwater, Manitoba, where students will visit farms and meet with community leaders.  Students will explore the relationship among farm operations, rural culture, and the environment. Conducted over a two-week period, the course will combine lectures and farm visits with course projects. For a first-hand look at the travel/study course to Clearwater, go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAt660KhX34

Travel Fee is $360.00 CAD (subject to change) which includes farm visits, workshops, facility use and supplies.  Food, lodging, local transportation,  personal expenses, health insurance, as well as University of Manitoba tuition are not included.
