MADLaT Conference 2012 - Weekly Highlights April 25/12

The Manitoba Association for Distributed Learning and Training (MADLaT) will hold an International Conference in Winnipeg on May 3-4, 2012.

WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS

 

Session 3

In Computer Assisted Learning: A Case Study of Two Charter Schools and Strategies for Effective Instructional Technology Integration in K-12 Public Schools, participants will learn more about how technology-enhanced instruction is being used to close the achievement gap. Jared Keengwe, Farhan Hussein and Gary Schnellert will also discuss how professional development support for educators enhances technology integration in schools.

 

Session 6

How can we become better educators through concerted and meaningful reflection? Alan Callan, Monica Batac and Collin Harris will explore changing PD models in Transforming Professional Development with Reflective Practice: Personalization before Prescription. This panel discussion on Reflective Practice in Technology Integration will address all educational levels.

 

Session 10

How can distance learning in an applied field be carried out successfully? In Theoretical Framework for the Design and Delivery of Social Work Distance Education: Community of Inquiry Model Oleksandr Kondrashov will discuss the theoretical frameworks that support the design and delivery of social work courses through distance education.

 

Session 12

What are better ways to visually represent materials for online learners? In Best Practices of Graphic Design for Content Writing in Online Learning, Roberta Everson and Charlie Shymko from Technologies for Learning Group (TLG) will present a strategic approach to graphic design that enhance online learning.

 

Session 13

Find out more about online learning right here in Southwestern Manitoba.  Glenn Cockerline, Mike Nantais and Lili Jardine from Brandon will present Inquiries into Technology Based Course Delivery: Lessons Learned. An engaging opportunity to better understand how learning modalities, and respectively educators’ and learner’s perspective impact online learning.

 

Workshop 5

Be part of a full-day workshop with Valeria Palladino in “Podcastify” your Greatest Lessons! How to Perform Pedagogical Miracles with a Wiki, a Screencast and a Podcasting channel! Part two – learn to podcast your lessons away! By the end of this applied workshop, you will have new tools to creatively reach out to your learners.
