As educational technology professionals, we are constantly in search of ways to move our learning environments beyond the physical confines of our classrooms. In “Podcastify” Your Greatest Lessons! How to Perform Pedagogical Miracles with a Wiki, a Screencast and a Podcasting Channel! Part one – learn the basics of wikis and screencasting, Valeria Palladino, from Norquest College, will help you along the journey. In this workshop on web 2.0 tools, you will learn how to set up a wiki, screencast and create your own podcast channel. You’ll never have to find your students again because they’ll always be able to find your content.
Have you ever shop video footage promising yourself that you will edit it soon? Jean Vouillon in Video Tutorials with QuickTime will help you understand how to use QuickTime, an often under-utilized tool. You will be able to capture your video, edit and add additional images and sound to create your own video tutorials. Avoid spending hours learning new software when QuickTime can easily be at your disposal.
How can we use online tools to help learners identify and document their previous learning? In Socrates – Take Stock of Your Learning, Online, Deb Blower and Janet Smith, from RPL Services at Red River College, will present Socrates, an online self-assessment and advising tool. Socrates supports learners in their own Recognized Prior Learning process. Through access to career information and post-secondary programs, this team will show you how Socrates can help your learners to identify and capitalize on their previous learning.
How can we reach out to remote learners who want to learn a trade in Manitoba? Michael Farris and John Nicklin from Red River College will present Building an E-Apprentice Option for Manitoba. By using the right supports in a blended environment, learners pursuing the proposed 18 trades in Manitoba will be able to apprentice in their home regions. Learn more about these courses, in both delivery and design stages, that are critical to building industry throughout Manitoba.
