|Bison Golf teams ready for 2009 fall schedule|

As the fall season begins, Bison Golf teams prepare for the 2009 schedule with six tournaments for the men’s side and five tournaments for the women’s squad. The 2009 edition of Bison Golf has eight women golfers and 12 men golfers.
The first action will take place on September 11 weekend with the men teeing it up at the Concordia Invitational at the Meadows Golf Club from September 11-12 while the women playing the Cobber Invitational at the Wildflower Golf and Country Club.
Bison golf co-coach Garth Goodbrandson reflected, “We have young teams for both the men and women. We had some strong results from Bison golfers at the recent Canada Games and look forward to a producing a good season.”
Last season, the Bison men’s golf squad began with a fourth place team finish at the Cobber Invitational. They followed with four more Top 10 finishes including a second at the NDSU Erv Kaiser Invitational. Eric Johnson was the team MVP with two Top 10 finishes and a top placing of second place in the 2008 season. The women’s golf squad started the 2008 season with a third place team finish at the Cobber Invitational. The team added a high of a seventh place finish with two more Top 10 finishes. Faye Zachedniak was the team MVP as in her final season she had four Top 15 finishes during the 2008 season.
At the 2009 Canada Games, Ryan Pitzel finished eighth for Manitoba while Lindsay Stewart was 15th. Both Bison Golf co-coaches Garth Goodbrandson and Derek Ingram, who was team captain as Team Canada won the Four Nations Cup, coached Team Manitoba to a fourth for men and sixth place finish for the women at the Canada Games.
