He was twice their height, but National Basketball League star Brandon Knight became kid-sized for a day as he wowed Mini U basketball students at Investors Group Athletic Centre.
Knight, a 6'3" member of the Detroit Pistons, lead students in a game of keep-away. He also demonstrated basic training exercises and skills so the kids can learn to become a pro.
Knight said having the opportunity to speak with aspiring basketball stars at such a young age is very important to him.
"That's what I think inspires a lot of kids, just to have the opportunity to talk to someone at the pro level. It makes a big difference in a lot of people's lives," said Knight.
Fall/Winter registration for Mini U is already underway. If you want to get involved, visit MiniU.ca.
Knight was also in Winnipeg to promote the NBA Canada Series at MTS Centre this fall.
