Bison golfer Josh Wytinck captured the 2012 Nott Autocorp Manitoba Men’s Amateur Golf Championship when he rallied for a come-from-behind victory after a birdie on the first playoff hole. This was Wytinck's first win at the Manitoba Men’s Amateur Golf Championship.
Wytinck, entering his fourth season with the Bisons, had to overcome a four strokes deficit with only two holes to play to advance into the four-person playoff. In the fourth round, he shot a +1 (73) on the Par 72 Glendale Golf & Country Club and his winning overall score was +1 for a 289 (75-70-71-73) total.
In addition, there was two other Manitoba Bisons golfers in the top five as Charlie Boyechko was one of the runner-ups to Wytinck in the playoff with a 289 (72-75-67-75) score and also was tied for low round of the championship with a third round 67. Bryce Barr was fifth place with a 290 (70-73-75-72) result. Both Boyechko and Barr will be in their third year with the Bisons at the start of the 2012 fall season.
Former Bison, and 2011 Manitoba Men’s Amateur Golf Champ, Jesse Skelton finished tenth with a 299 total (74-72-76-77). There were 59 players that made the final cut at the Championship.
The Provincial team members that will compete at the 2012 Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship from August 7-10 at the Camelot Golf & Country Club - Cumberland, Ontario & Club de golf Outaouais - Rockland, Ontario are: Josh Wytinck, Aaron Cockerill, and Garth Collings.
