Posted Tuesday, August 4, 2009†8:30 AM

The Manitoba Bisons announced the full conference and non-conference schedules for all CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport) teams and individual sports at the University of Manitoba for the upcoming season.

The 19th annual Duckworth Challenge, which pits the Bisons versus the University of Winnipeg in womenís and menís basketball and volleyball games, will be played in non-conference games in October. This is the first time ever that games in this annual event will be non-conference.

The volleyball portion is scheduled on Tuesday, October 6 at the University of Winnipeg and then the Challenge ends with basketball on Wednesday, October 7 at the University of Manitoba. The Bisons holds the lead in the Duckworth Challenge with a record of eight wins, four losses and six ties while the Wesmen have retained the title with a victory last season.

Fans will get a treat the day before Halloween this year, as the Bison womenís hockey team will raise their first banner, the 2008-09 Canada West Championship, at the Max Bell Arena in their home opener on Friday, October 30 against the University of British Columbia.

Also in the 2009-10 Bisons schedule, the womenís soccer team plays bright and early at 10 a.m. on three occasions: September 19, October 3 and October 31.
