It is expected that color eReaders using eInk technology will be out this fall.

eInk technology is a device that is not backlit, giving the appearance of looking at paper and requiring a light source to view thus saving on eye strain.

eReaders have not caught on in Canada mainly for 2 reasons:

1) Canadian wireless network system from cell phone providers
are antiquated or just being implemented
2) Our publishers resisting the change to electronic formats

With the 3D movie Avatar, 3D televisions using similar technology as the theater are becoming available. These televisions will be both 2D and 3D capable and should be available soon (according to the FutureShop website). These televisions will be using existing LCD, Plasma, LED and rear projection and is likely to be a standard feature in the near future.
