What We Know About Suicide in Winnipeg|

This Research to Action event is intended to strengthen efforts towards a Suicide Prevention Strategy in Winnipeg by creating a learning community where research can inform innovations and practice.

Keynote Address|

Dr. Gustavo Turecki, MD PhD
Early life trauma and suicide risk: New insights into this relationship

Gustavo Turecki obtained his medical degree in 1989, specialty in psychiatry in 1994 and PhD in neurosciences (genetics) in 1999. His research has focused on the study of biomedical risk factors for suicide. Dr. Turecki holds a William Dawson Chair, heads the Depressive Disorders Program at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute and is the director of the McGill Group for Suicide Studies and the Quebec Suicide Brain Bank. Dr. Turecki has authored over 120 research articles in peer reviewed journals and book chapters and is the recipient of several prestigious scientific awards, and is the leader of a CIHR NET on Aboriginal suicide.
