The decision to adopt new software for on-line learning needs arose from a recommendation from the Learning Management Advisory Council. To gather information that will inform implementation planning the Desire2Learn (D2L) Project Team requests you respond to the following questions.

4. Posting Material in Desire2Learn Software

There are two methods by which current course material can be posted to Desire2Learn. Please indicate your preferred method.

Procedure A – automated migration

Your Angel course can be automatically migrated to Desire2Learn.  However, migrated course material will not be made available to students until it is reviewed by the Copyright Office for copyright compliance.  You will be expected to work with the Copyright Office in a timely way in order to ensure all course material is cleared prior to being visible to students in D2L.

Procedure B – building a course

You may build a new or pre-existing course in Desire2Learn based on a template provided in the D2L software Note : is this statement true? .   Individual instructors will be responsible to consider copyright as they post course materials to their course site (training provided).  If instructors need assistance in ensuring copyright compliance, they may contact the Copyright Office.  You may post course materials over the term (at times required by students) rather than all at once at the beginning of the term. 

 

 
5. Training Preferences

To assist faculty in preparing for a 2012 Fall Term D2L implementation target date, the Project Team requires information from instructors to plan support and training for the migration to D2L. Please choose one option from the three noted below:

Option 1

I would prefer to attend a scheduled (approximately a half a day) D2L hands-on training session facilitated by IST in a computer lab setting in June, July, August, or September.

Option 2

I would prefer to attend a D2L training session (approximately 3-4 hours) that combined the technical aspects of D2L with the pedagogical best-practice for on-line learning (facilitated by both IST and University Teaching Services) in June, July, August, or September.
