Bison Sports, in conjunction with 101.5 UMFM (http://www.umfm.com/), is pleased to announce the return of Bison Football to the radio airwaves for the full 2011 season. UMFM will be the exclusive radio location to listen to all the home and away live action of Bison Football during the upcoming year.
This will be the 12th consecutive season for Bison Football on 101.5 FM. For the upcoming campaign, the radio broadcast team has Derek Taylor handing play-by-play and former Bison Matt Rollason performing colour commentary for the sixth consecutive season. In addition, for the Sept. 24 game at UBC, former Bison and 2007 Vanier Cup MVP Mike Howard will provide colour in Rollason absence.
“We are once again excited again to see the popular return of Bison Football to the UMFM airwaves for a record 12th consecutive season,” said Jared McKetiak, UMFM Station Manager. “UMFM continues to be a proud and loyal supporter of Bison Sports and especially Bison Football and happy to provide another exciting season to all listeners locally and online.”
Derek Taylor has a wealth of broadcasting experience with four years with Citytv Winnipeg and is currently at Fox Soccer Report since 2007. A former team captain, Rollason played football with the Bisons from 1997-2001. Since then, he coached linebackers with Winnipeg Rifles Junior Football Club and the Bisons. The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service currently employs him. Howard has been with the UMFM Football crew starting in the 2008 campaign.
For all road games, there will be a 15 minute pre-game show while there is a 30 minute pre-game show for all home games.
