Make sure you are already logged in. Navigate to the Section in question. Click the "Owner" link in the Tool Bar. In the page that appears, click the "Forums" link under the "Tool Settings" heading in the Utility Bar.

The following is a brief description of each field.

1. Moderated
 
If a forum is moderated, a forums Tool Manager for this section or the Section Owner has to manually enable a message before it will be visible.

Note: If the forum is currently moderated and this option is unchecked, all messages in this section that have not yet been enabled will automatically be enabled.

Note: There is a global setting for forums moderation that can be enabled by nTreePoint Administrators. If this setting is enabled, then although you can change the setting for this section, it will only be applied if the global setting is unchecked. As long as the global moderation option is checked, all forums must be moderated, regardless of the setting for the particular section.

2. Allow User Update
 
This allows users who are logged into the system to update and/or delete their postings as long as there isn't a reply beneath the posting in question. Users who have posted anonymously never have access to update and/or delete their posting once it has been added.

Note: If the global setting to allow users to update/delete their postings has been disabled, the section setting will be ignored regardless of its value.

3. Allow Anonymous Messages
 
Enabling this features allows any user to post to the Forums tool without being logged in; however, the user will be required to include a first name, last name, and email address when adding a message (although there is no way to verify that the information will be accurate).

Note: There is a global setting for "Allow Anonymous Messages" that can be enabled by nTreePoint Administrators. If this setting is enabled, then although you can change the setting for this section, it will only be applied if the global setting for anonymous messages is enabled. As long as the global anonymous messages setting is disabled, no forums will be enabled for anonymous messages, regardless of the setting for the particular section.

4. Disable New Threads
 
If checked, only tool managers, section owners, and administrators will be able to start new threads. Users will, however, be able to reply to existing threads once they have been started.
5. Email Section Owner
 
If this field is checked and the Moderated option is checked, then the Section Owner of this section will be emailed when either a new thread is started or a new message is added under an existing thread.
6. Email Tool Managers
 
If this field is checked and the Moderated option is checked, then all Tool Managers for this section will be emailed when either a new thread is started or a new message is added under an existing thread.
